Last week was a busy one. But busy is good!! There has been three trips into London in a five day period. It actually feels like I am back at the corporate world. Apart from I am doing way more interesting stuff!
Thursday Daytime with Buyagift
Thursday saw me head into London for two events and both of them were with Faith Archer from Much More with Less. It is always lovely to go along to events with someone you know. We started at the Kensington Hilton and met with Buyagift and Red Letter Days and took part in perfume workshop. More to come in a dedicated blog post, but it was such fun. And I am super happy with the perfume I created, I have been wearing it every day since I created it. We then followed perfume making with a lovely afternoon tea.
Thursday Evening with She’s On the Money and The Parent Trap
We made our way over to Oxford Street and happened to be there for the exact time of the switch on of the Christmas lights. It was packed out with people, but we made our way through the crowds listening to live music from the cast from dream girls and another singer (who is in the charts but I can’t remember his name!!).
We made our way to Piccadilly, went to complete wrong place for our next event, but eventually found it, luckily leaving plenty of time to get there on time! The event was aimed at women and there were panelists talking about the finances of having children, pensions, investments and legals. It was really very interesting and I learnt some things that I hadn’t heard of before. There was a brilliant audience with lots of questions. Again more to come on this event.
And I managed to avoid spending any money throughout the whole day!! No coffees or snacks. Just a train ticket and I used my Network Rail card for that cost as well to save myself £7.
Friday manic catch up day
Spending the day in London on Thursday meant that all my deadlines and catch up went into Friday. I am very particular about deadlines, I have to hit them and will do whatever I can to exceed them. I had to get a content and social media plan over to one client in a lot of detail. And also share my Natwest post and social images to go with, this was where I was climbing through the tree tops doing the G0-Ape challenge. All had to be done by the time I picked up the boys from school!
Friday is our day off football, so its nice to crack open gin in a tin. My current favourite is Gordans pink gin and tonic. You can get 4 cans for around £4.50 in Tesco at the moment.
The SHOMO’s!
Saturday was another 12 hour day in London, for my annual UK Money blogger event. The SHOMO’s or Show me the Money event. Its a day of useful educational content, this year we learnt about the rise of Facebook Messenger marketing essential tool to make out websites perform better and great SEO tips. And I got the chance to catch up with and meet lots of brands who were there to sponsor the event. Most importantly it is such an opportunity to catch up with so many of the people whom I chat to online from the money writing world.
And a very rare thing for blogger events, but this one was free. Andy Webb of Be Clever With Your Cash, whom organises it every year always ensures its no cost for us and puts on such a great event. There are awards as well, you may remember I won parent and money blogger last year! This year I was shortlisted for best podcast but lost out to the rather wonderful Damien of Money To The Masses.
A Bargain Warm Coat
I have been hunting for the perfect warm coat for ages, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune. My friend Lucy rocked rocked up at school with a perfect long coat. And I totally copied her! I got this from H&M, full price was £49,99 which is brilliant for a warm football proof coat. And I had a voucher on my H&M club app…saving me an extra 15%. If you are a regular at H&M its really worth getting this app. I save money every time I buy something there.
