5 ways to change the look and feel in your bedroom on a budget

Your bedroom should be a relaxing and chilled out place to spend time in. Here are a few ideas of things we have done in our bedroom to give it a bit of a spruce up so it feels fresh and new.

New bedding

Nothing beats new bedding in your bedroom for a new look and feel. And the first day of sleeping in your clean bedding is always a good one! We recently got two new duvet sets from JD Williams. This set is a clever double-sided design, one side of the cover is blue on cream, the other side is cream on blue. And it cost just £30 for a super king duvet and pillow set. The king size is £25, double is £20. The quality of the cotton is good, soft to touch and very comfortable to sleep in. If your mattress is a few years old, eight the adverts say, why now take a look at a new mattress?

Go extravagant with your lighting

I have always wanted a chandelier in our house somewhere but never seem to have ceiling high enough or rooms big enough to warrant it. This one in our bedroom was bought from BHS years ago, so long gone! I found this similar one on Amazon. I love having the chandelier above our bed and it bring a real feeling of luxury to our bedroom.

A Canvas with Meaning

We have been to Las Vegas many times and had some amazing holidays there. One of favourite places with so many memories is at the Bellagio hotel. And many hours have been spent sipping cocktails watching the Las Vegas world go by in the foyer of the hotel sat beneath the Chihuly glass flower display on the ceiling of the foyer.

We had our best image of the flowers turned into a canvas and this is on the wall above our heads on the bedroom wall.

A beautiful smell

The bedroom should smell beautiful as well as look beautiful. We have added this Aldi Pomegranate reed diffuser to our headboard. The smell will last for up to 2 months. The diffuser is available in store for just £3.99. And it a total copy of the alternative, much more expensive Jo Malone version, yet smells the same!

Add some crystals

A recent addition to my side of the bed is my crystals. They were in my office but I have decided to move them to my side of the bed so they spend many hours near me. I have a fool’s gold and a citrine. Citrine is a crystal that supports abundance, power and success. Fool’s Gold or pyrite helps to strengthen your confidence and teaches you that life is full of abundance and endless opportunity. These are particular things that I am looking to build on at the moment. Each crystal has different properties and powers.

  1. Lighting is such an important point; having the potential of varying the lighting in your room for use in different activities – such as working and relaxing – can be instrumental in making the room feel usable in multiple situations. Having warm and daylight-style lighting options can reduce the strain on eyes when the wrong lighting is being used in the wrong situation. Pretty lighting is an added bonus, of course!
