New Wickes Kitchen Range and a chat with Phil Spencer
Wickes have launched a beautiful great value new Wickes kitchen range and I was invited to their flagship store in Cricklewood to explore the new range. I also got to make sushi and cocktails and met Phil Spencer, brand ambassador for Wickes.
I love to learn about new food and having eaten sushi so much I was really looking forward to learning how to make it. I was taught by an expert from a Japanese sushi school who showed me how to make the traditional Californian roll and a steak cone. It was simple, you just need the thin seaweed wrapper and the sticky sushi rice. We got to eat the steak cone (pictured, yes I made this!) and then take home the Californian roll. Yumsk both tasted amazing.
I have made my fair of cocktails over the years, once upon a time (I think I was pregnant!) I made cocktails in the Sanderson! This time I got one-2-one tuition from Leo the Italian mixologist. He knew his stuff! First on the menu was gin and elderflower fizz. I love gin and I love elderflower. Leo not only showed us how to make the cocktails he also talked through the history of cocktails and gin. He was really engaging and funny. And the gin cocktail tasted amazing.
Next on the menu was a tequila cocktail. Now I am not a fan of tequila, I don’t like the taste and it tends to make me lose my memory. But I went with it and learnt how to make the cocktail and you know what, it tasted okay. Although I preferred the gin one!
All the Wickes stores have the range of new kitchens on show. I love a nice kitchen and it really is the heart of a family home. The range at Wickes is modern and fresh and well-priced. They often have sales on the kitchen furniture with 50% off or 33% off with prices starting from around £450 for an eight-unit set of cupboards.
Wickes have a great design team who will help advise on your new kitchen. They offer a design package and all the other bits you will need in a kitchen from oven and white goods to work surfaces, taps, lighting and flooring. Once you are happy with the design Wickes can arrange for the kitchen to be fitted as well.
A chat with Phil Spencer
Phil Spencer was also making sushi and cocktails along with a handful of influencers and journalists. We all got to spend some time with Phil to talk kitchens or more in my situation to talk house selling! If you have the expert in front of you then you should ask! I think it was meant to be me asking him the questions but it flipped and he interviewed me about our house sale process. We talked about our necessity to move, he agreed a cheaper location with better schools and closer to football.
We talked about the price of our house and if we would accept a lower offer to sell the house more quickly. I showed Phil the pictures on Rightmove and he gave me a good critique. Simple things he recommended like softening the front of the house, getting rid of pictures of small rooms such as downstairs bathroom. He chose a picture of the kitchen/dining room as the front cover main shot. He recommended that it was better to have fewer pictures to encourage the potential buyers in through the door.
All great advice that I went straight back to the agent to be changed straight away.
Phil is the ambassador for Wickes kitchen and recommends them as a great value with quality and style in mind. You’ll hear his voice on the adverts and in their advertising campaigns. Check out the Wickes kitchen range here.
Thank you to Wickes for inviting me to this event.
