Monday Money #91 Shortlist Blog of The Year Headline Money Awards

I had the best news ever this week and it was something that I had been manifesting and wishing for since I sent in my submission in January. The Headline Money awards are the Oscars of the financial journalism world. There are lots of awards for the PR industry and newspaper, plus one award that I could enter, Blog of The Year.

And I was shortlisted!! This is just the most incredible news to shortlisted as one of the five best blogs in the personal finance world. It is absolute validation that what I do is the best. The awards are in May, a very posh black tie dinner in dinner. Fingers crossed for then and that I win the big award!

Onto my money saving from last week!

Military Wives

I had the day to myself on Saturday and had a few jobs to get done, with some relaxation in the middle. With it being International Women’s Day I decided Military Wives was the perfect film to go watch. By the way read my ode to the inspirational women in my life in this post that I shared yesterday!

Military wives is such a wonderful heart warming and equally sad film. A real celebration of the power of friendship. I loved it and cried through most of the film for the happy and the sad bits.

And I saved £3.88 on my ticket by using my Kidspass discount card. But then did spend that money on caramel latte, slightly point defeated of saving!

Coffee Shop Working

Working from home can sometimes be lonely and a bit uninspiring. A great solution to this I find is working from a local cafe. I will often spend a few hours in my favourite Knebworth Cafe Vero, or last week I went to Costa as they sent me a voucher for a free coffee! They have just had a refurb and are looking refreshed so of course I went to check it out.

Home Insurance Sorted

My huge life admin mission continued last week with sorting out my home insurance. Surprisingly my renewal quote for the insurance came in cheaper than last year. I did a little sense check on TopcashBack insurance compare and actually my quote was very reasonable, so I just renewed! Finally an easy admin task that was great value too.

H&M Shopping

I have some video and photoshoot work over the next two weeks and decided to get a few new wardrobe bits so I look different to photoshoots from the past. I love H&M and can always find great pieces that do not cost the earth. Plus I can always save some money using the H&M app as well.

I got 3 blouses and one dress so have a few options for all my work commitments these cost £70, really happy with that, pictures to come when I wear them. As well as my photo shoots I am also speaking at a Money Management panel event this Friday 13th March, the new clothes will be well worn!

There are stick tickets available to the Money Management event, in Shoreditch this week, you can get a ticket from here

De-cluttering and Spring Clean

Every day last week I have done a chunk of cleaning and de-cluttering and it feels so good! I have been working through room by room, throwing away the clutter and making sure everything is clean and sparkly. Recently life has been quite a challenge and I have let things go. And its even rubbed off onto the boys who decided to spring clean their bedroom, now a clutter free and very tidy room.

It really is true, a tidy house is a tidy mind. After my return from holiday in a couple of week we are hiring a skip and we are going to go through everything and de-clutter including the garage and the loft. We cannot wait.
