Monday Money #28 Christmas Ideas and meeting Billy from the F2

I have just had a very scary thought this morning. There is only six weeks left of school before the boys break up for Christmas Holidays!! How did that happen, how did we suddenly get so close to Christmas?! We are in middle of the boys birthdays with one last week and one more to go next week. They have everything they have asked for, what on earth do I get them for Christmas. I will maybe be looking at an experience of something rather than a thing. Feeding the meerkats kind of thing! I really need to start getting organised!

Cold weather means snug warm clothing is needed!

Aldi have a fantastic range of warm winter goodies at the moment and I have been trying a few out. I just love the warm pajamas and fluffy slippers, is it wrong that if I am working from home I just want to work sitting in my new pjs and slippers?!

Josh has stolen the warmest socks ever, and doesn’t seem to mind that they are bunnies or maybe bears, what do you think?! The pjs are £9.99, with the slippers coming in at £5.99. All products are available in store right now and online to have delivered at home.

The Importance of Financial Education for Children

I wrote a post last week about what I do to teach the children about financial education, it has been shared far and wide particularly on Twitter which has been great to see. And I guested on Bob FM Radio station talking about it as well. There are key things that I believe are extremely important for our children to know and understand and to ensure they are ready for adult life and are financially prepared. Read more here.

Taking my reusable coffee cup everywhere.

I have been so good this week taking my reusable coffee cup out with me everywhere, that has saved me at least £6 in coffees I would normally buy at football or on the way to the radio station. Not only saving money but also doing my bit to not add to the mountain of coffee cups being thrown away.

Dylan did his bit of money saving

It was Dylan’s birthday on Friday and his choice of birthday dinner was, wait for it, Domino’s! He had the choice of going out for dinner but instead went for the budget option of the pizza delivery. His favourite food. I have a fab way of saving money on Domino’s too. There is a feature of the Latest Deals website that find you all the vouchers available for your local Dominoes. I found a save 40% off a £40+ spend. Bargain.

Football games and parties galore

Our weekend was busy with two games of football and 2 birthday parties. What are your thoughts on birthday pressies? How much do you spend on gifts for the friends of your children? I personally never buy gifts anymore, I will always give some money in an envelope. But how much money? I tend to give £5 (unless its a best friend and then I might give £10), but often think is this tight? We have so many birthday parties for the boys, this month alone there is five. The pressie cost could rack up.

The Sunday football game was Cambridge versus Tottenham and whilst there the boys met Billy from F2, one of their idols. Such a lovely guy as well.

  1. I had no idea that you could order from Aldi online, I always assumed it was in-store only. About to go and have a little look around their hamper and gifts section! (P.S. I think the socks are definitely bears!!)
