My Favourite Holiday location – 5 things you have to do in Las Vegas

My favourite holiday destination has to be Las Vegas. I have been ten times!! Yes, ten times. The first time was back in 2002, most recently was in April of this year where we went for my 40th birthday with a group of friends.

Every time has been different, it changes so much depending on who you go with. I have been with just my husband and as a big group with eight people. It great to go with your girlfriends (which was so much fun!) and I have been with just my husband and gay best friend!

I really love it and will continue to go time and time again. Every year we visit Vegas changes. There are new hotels popping up all the time. Just this year in April we experienced so much different and new stuff. We went pony trekking out at red rock canyon and ate like the mob in Hugo’s cellar basement in Old town Vegas and were given red roses as we left.

We normally stay in hotels, the central strip hotels being our hotels of choice. The Aria and Bellagio have been stay in a few times, those being our favourites. But something to think about next time is to hire a villa in Vegas. If there is a group of you going for a girl’s holiday or maybe a big birthday then a group of you could stay for great value for money in an apartment with Clickstay.

Just take a look at these apartments that I found browsing through the site. This one sleep 14 people and costs from £3000 for a 1 week. We normally pay £1000 for 5 days for one hotel room so you can see this would be incredible value for a larger group of you.

Here is another property, you can see that it’s not far from the strip as there is the light from the Luxor beaming up in the background of the pool. And the pool is pink, I’m sold! Again, this properly sleeps 14 people and is priced from £3000 for one week.

These are my top 5 things that you must do when in Vegas

  • Visit the Grand Canyon

We have done this twice now and the last trip was amazing. We took a helicopter ride over the canyon and then walked the skywalk. I feared for my life but it was the most beautiful, breath-taking and incredible view. The helicopter trip was just amazing. It’s not cheap setting you back at around $1000 but is so worth it to see one of the most incredible views in the world.

Las Vegas Holiday

  • Experience the crazy world of Downtown Vegas

Just park yourself in one of the street side bar, get yourself a beer or a cocktail and watch the crazy world go by. You will see some incredible sights, sights that you will never see anywhere else. From naked dancing girls to super heroes to the members of kiss. It is the most incredible people watching I have ever experienced.

  • Visit a Las Vegas buffet

Oh, the excess of the food. I have never seen so much food or different types of food as there are in the Las Vegas buffets. The best ones I have been to are the Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan, The Aria buffet where you can also have unlimited booze as well as food. The Bellagio buffet is also a good one. Make you go with a very empty stomach and you will leave with a very full one!

  • Go up high to get an amazing view

There are loads of options for amazing views in Vegas. There is dinner at the top of the Eiffel tower. Or take a trip to the top of the Stratosphere for scary rides and a beautiful view of the strip. Maybe go on the high-roller for a big wheel view of the town. Or go the bar at the top of Mandarin Oriental for cocktails and watch the sunset.

  • Check out a show

Vegas is the place to go for shows, whenever you go there will be something amazing in town. We have seen everything from Cirque Du Soleil to Coldplay. These don’t have to be pre-booked you can pick up cheap tickets from the many ticket booths on the strip. Our favourite must be Absinthe at Caesars palace. An intimate show where you are so close to the acts. Amazing acrobatics, dancing, comedy, singing. It’s a feast for the eyes and you are so close you can’t fail to be impressed!
